Sacramento Skatepark

The Sacramento Skatepark is a lame ass skate park with a bunch of roll out launch ramps. And to top it off you have to pay to skate this crap I can't remember how much. They are supposed to get more ramps to fill the warehouse but if they are anything like these ramps don't bother.

First of all, there is no doubt that this park doesn't stand up to the likes
of Ripon or Grass Valley, or even Elk Grove. But, the fact is, we at the SSA
and everyone involved has been careful not to call it a "Skatepark", cuz
it's not! It's called "Skate Sacramento" and actually run by the city as a
youth recreational program. It moves around on Saturdays to other area
parks, but home base is the Baler Building ‹a huge 3-sided tin shed the
size of jet hangar. This makes it the only city run, indoor skate park that
we know of in California. In January, every other Norcal city skate park will
be rained out. We'll still be skating. That at least deserves 3 stars!
The SSA is working with the city to get a REAL concrete skate park built in
Sac (possible at the Baler Building), but it's still a ways away. Until
then, this is what we got. By the way, since you took those photos, they've
added a 3 foot high by 12 foot wide minipipe.

Also wanted to let you know that there's going to be another ramp park built
in Sac (actually North Natomas near Arco Arena) in early November. The SSA
is helping organize the volunteer to install it. The ramps are by skatewave
and it will be about the size of 2 tennis courts. It in the middle of a new
neighborhood park (Orchard Park) and will be free. I'll send info and photos
when it's done.

Sacramento Skate Park.  I skated the Sac Skate Park twice during the month of January (2004).  It was raining during one of my visits, so I was very appreciative.  Yes, I have been to better skate parks, but for me; any skate park is better to no skate park.  It might not be worth a drive from out of town to skate this park, but it is worth skating if you live or work or go to school in Sac.  The cost was 3 dollars and they did require helmets to be worn, but my 3 bucks was good for the entire day and I could come and go as I pleased. Which is good for me, because I work full time and I was able to skate the park on my lunch hour and then come back after I got off work for the day.  They have added a mini ramp and a 7 foot high X 20 foot wide vert ramp since the initial review so do not be put off by the first review.   Overall, If you are in town, it is worth stopping by and skating.
